hexes)could be too big, (see next item), nor should a map be under 26 x 14 or it may not display correctly.
Then load the map you want to view,
this'll take a few seconds.
The two files for a World are .map
(Terrain map info, Pointers to Text
and Flags), and the .dta file which
contains info on an area. It may pay
to keep backups of these files before resizing or compacting.
╗.dta and .map files
The .dta files contain text
information on a hex, this is stored in
blocks of 126 bytes, with an integer
Nextpointer. Total .dta size is ...
64,000 chunks x 126 characters = 8Mb+.
The .map files contain a character
array of terrain info, and a character
array of Flag info, plus an integer
array for pointers to the .dta files.
The Map Size could be bigger
than 252 x 252 but then not every hex
would be able to have a Name or text.
╗ Using the Map:
The arrow buttons scroll around,
or you can Jump To a new location.
Click on a hex and the Text box will
present its' information. This can be
edited, or cut and pasted to/from
other windows applications.
The Title of the Hex will be the
FIRST letters BEFORE a space.
You must hit the save button to save
this information, this also changes
the info box colour back to light blue.
The Terrain button lets you edit the
terrain there, the Flag button lets you
edit a flag to place on that hex. To
see the Flags, just click on the Flags Off above the map, to not see the flags click again. Normally the map should save when you exit, resize or compact, the Save Map in the File menu will also save the map.
The Strategic map shows much more, the number in the middle of the
scroll buttons, shows how many hexes the map'll scroll. This can be changed by mouse clicks.
The MicroMap option, shows the
borders of the small map, this has a wee bug when the map is close to the top or bottom.
